Below you will find the when and where for some of our event picks, but there's a lot of other events going on this weekend in Peabody and the nearby area of the North Shore.

1. RECYCLE YOUR ELECTRONICS AND METAL WASTE
Where/When: Northshore Mall (parking lot next to East Boston Savings Bank), Peabody; Saturday, 9 a.m.
Why Go: You can recycle your old computers, TVs, washers, dryers, refrigerators and other items and make a donation to the Fisher House Foundation, which benefits veterans' families in need of housing at military bases while their loved ones are recovering in military hospitals, and the North Eastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Foundation.
Pricing: $5 donation for computers, phones, DVD players, steel (grills, fencing, etc.), refrigerators, stoves, washers and drivers; $15 donation for CRT TVs up to 24 inches and a $20 donation for TVs larger than 24 inches
Where/When: McPherson Youth Center; Saturday, 12-2 p.m.
Why Go: YMCA of the North Shore, McPherson Teen Center and Netcast Church all get together to offer an afternoon of fun for kids and families. There will be a bounce house, Music plus free food and drinks. The first 300 students to arrive will get a free bookbag with school supplies inside.
Pricing: Free
Where/When: Wenham Museum; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Why Go: This traditional twice-a-year sale always draws a line before the doors open on Saturday to get a crack at some of the great finds. The sale draws both "discerning collectors and veteran yard-salers," according to Wenham Museum, which counts on the event as one of its major annual fundraisers.

4. OCTOBERFEST IN DANVERS
Where/When: Polish Club, 12 Cheever St., Danvers; Saturday, 6-10 p.m.
Why Go: The Danvers Democratic Town Committee is putting on its fifth annual fest this coming Saturday at the Polish Club (6-10 p.m.). Guest speakers will include Congressman John Tierney and State Treasurer Steve Grossman. The buffet will include sausages, kugel, stuffed cabbage, pierogi, pretzels and strudel, and there will be a cash bar and "oom pah pah music." Email hazel_marilyn@yahoo.com for more details.
Pricing: Tickets are $25 per person and $40 per couple
Where/When: Topsfield Fairgrounds; Sunday, race at 10 a.m., registration opens at 8 a.m.
Why Go: The Topsfield FAir roadrace started a few years ago as a new pre-fair fall tradition to raise money for the Essex Agricultural Scholarship Fund. Be one of the first 200 runners to register and get a T-shirt included with the race entry fee. Walkers as well as runners are welcome and there will be food and music afterward.
