STATE CHAMPS: Lady Tanners Claim First Ever Soccer Title for Peabody [PHOTOS]

Peabody girls' soccer defeats East Longmeadow in regulation play, 1-0, to take state crown.

All it took was one goal early in the second half by Katie Brunelle -- the rest of the game remained scoreless -- and the Peabody girls walked off the field at Worcester State University Friday night as state champions. The capstone to a nigh perfect season.

The Lady Tanners soccer squad clinched the Division I title against East Longmeadow, giving Peabody its first state crown since 1993 and the first ever for the girls' soccer program.
