PHOTOS: Girls' Soccer Hopes Dashed in Double OT Heartbreaker
Acton-Boxboro broke the Tanner's winning streak in October and then broke their hearts scoring on a 30-foot shot at the 5 minute mark of a second overtime.
There will be a new Division I girls' soccer champion this fall with the reigning champs' dreams for a repeat dashed Sunday night.
Peabody High and Acton-Boxboro battled on the Tanners' home field through double overtime until the Colonials finally found the net on a free kick, ending the contest, 1-0.
Prior to the first and only other loss this season (to the Colonials), the Tanners had a 38-game streak going from last year and were ranked No. 1 in the nation for three weeks.
