Peabody West Beats Beverly, Wins Berth in State Final Four

A 10-run third inning was the key to victory.

A 10-run third inning powered Peabody West past Beverly in Saturday's Section 4 Little League title game.

The Williamsport squad survived a rally by Beverly to win 10-5, according to the Salem News.

In 2009 the local all-stars made it all the way to the Little League World Series, representing New England on the national stage.

The last time the Tanner City kids played for the state title, however, was 2010, when they lost to Southboro twice in the finals after winning the sectional title again.

The first game for this year's state title is this Thursday (7:30 p.m.) in West Roxbury. Peabody West plays Newton South East.

Game two is Friday (5 p.m.) when Peabody will play Hanover while game three will be Peabody vs. Holden Saturday at 2 p.m. The top two teams will then battle it out Sunday (4 p.m.) for the state title.

All games will be played at Praught Field at the Guy Cammarata Complex at 315 Baker St. in West Roxbury.
