Rocha Chalks Up Another Title, Record at All-States

Rocha and Grube headed to New England Championships for Tanners' indoor track.

Is it a surprise? distance running star Catarina Rocha captured the state title in the mile on Sunday and broke the meet record at the same time.

Rocha clocked in 4:50.38 -- about five seconds ahead of Foxborough's Liz Holmes -- to break the 2007 record (4:52.11) set by Bridget Dahlberg of Newton South. All-States for indoor track was held at the Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury.

Rocha's time was also five seconds faster than her performance two weeks ago in the Division I Championships. She now advances to the New England Championships on March 2.
