Peabody Schools Closed Monday, Expecting Sandy

Public schools in Peabody will be closed on Monday because of Hurricane Sandy.

The Peabody School Department announced Sunday afternoon that all public schools will be closed on Monday due to the expected arrival of Hurricane Sandy.

The message was sent out citywide via ConnectEd and Nixle at about 1:45 p.m.

Bishop Fenwick High School also announced Sunday afternoon that it will be closed on Monday and St. John the Baptist School made an announcement Sunday evening. In addition to no school Monday, all afternoon and evening activities are also cancelled at St. John's.

By Sunday night, most school districts around the Boston area made the decision to close on Monday due to the impending hurricane.
