Student Athletes and Parents Gear 'A Dose of Reality'
Healthy Peabody Collaborative brought speaker Linda Dutil, RN with "A Dose of Reality" to PVMHS mandatory parent/athlete winter sports night.
At the December 8, 2011 mandatory parent/athlete high school winter sports night, the auditorium at PVMHS was full with student athletes, parents/guardians, coaches, school staff and administration.
Phil Sheridan, Director of Health & Wellness, Physical Education and Athletics for Peabody Public Schools afforded the Healthy Peabody Collaborative with the unique opportunity to continue substance abuse prevention education before this large audience by bringing in speaker Linda Dutil, RN. Linda presented an abbreivated version of her "Dose of Reality" where she talks about the consequences of drug use and underage drinking. Her focus was on helping parents and students recognize the signs and symptoms of use to empower the audience with intervention skills.

Linda was introduced by Scott Myers of the PVMHS Health Advisory Council (HAC). HAC is a group of student leaders who bring this type of programming to Peabody Public Schools in collaboration with many community partners including the Healthy Peabody Collaborative.
