Peabody Man Accused of Downloading, Sharing Child Porn

A 33-year-old Peabody man is facing charges of possessing dozens of pornographic images of children on his home computer and and distributing them via an online file sharing network.

A 33-year-old Peabody man is facing charges of downloading dozens of images of child pornography onto his home computer and sharing those pictures and video in a file sharing network.

Ronald Mikol, 33, of 3231 Crane Brook Way, Peabody, was arrested last week on a warrant and charged with possession and distribution of child pornography, following an investigation of a peer-to-peer file sharing service by state police, reports the Salem News.

The Salem News reports police were able to trace various pictures and videos shared on the network to Mikol's computer.

He was arraigned March 26 in Peabody District Court and is being held on $10,000 cash bail with the provisions he stay off computers and stay away from children for the time being.

The case is very similar to one that ended in a jail time for another Peabody man earlier this year.

Barry Bushway was sentenced to serve six months of a 2 1/2-year jail term after he pleaded guilty to downloading and sharing thousands of pornographic images of children.

Disgusting. I can't believe the other pervert only got 6 months. There is something seriously wrong with the state's so called justice system.

Look at this article from the Newton Patch. Same type of charge but he was tried in Federal Court and they locked him up for 45 years. Maybe the feds should pick up every case involving online child porn, that's the only way to keep children a little safer because obviously the state doesn't do anything to protect them. http://newton.patch.com/articles/former-newton-teacher-sentenced-to-45-years-in-federal-prison-for-child-porn
