Police Log: Man Charged with Drunk Driving After Road Rage Incident

Wednesday, April 9

At 4:48 p.m., police notified the Department of Public Services about a large pothole on Veterans Memorial Drive.

At 5:18 p.m., police responded to a two-car accident at Lowell and Chestnut streets. One person was taken to Salem Hospital. Both cars were towed.

At 7:21 p.m., police notified the Department of Public Services about a sinkhole developing at the corner of Tremont and Central streets. The DPS said they would place cones around the hole and add it to their road repairs list.

At 9:55 p.m., a person reported seeing a female jumped on Andover Street. The victim was reportedly upset and taken into the vehicle, which fled the scene. The person gave police a plate number, but there were no matches in the system. Police contacted Lahey Clinic, which said no one arrived with injuries from an assault.

Thursday, April 10

At 12:37 a.m., police placed an intoxicated 52-year-old homeless man into protective custody.

At 9:34 a.m., police arrested John R. Evans, 33, 107 Prospect St., Apt. 2, Gloucester, and charged him with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of liquor (second offense), assault and battery on a police officer and failing to wear a seat belt. Police responded to a road rage incident on Andover Street and subsequently arrested Evans.
