UPDATED: Drunk Driving Case Dismissed

A 20-year-old Peabody woman is facing driving under the influence charges after she allegedly showed up drunk at the door of a Portsmouth, RI, resident’s house after 2 a.m. looking for someone who doesn’t live there anymore — twice.

A 20-year-old Peabody woman approached a homeowner on Boyds Lane in the early morning house on June 7 with another unidentified female looking for someone who no longer lives there.

The homeowner called police to report the two females appeared highly intoxicated and gave a description of the vehicle they were driving.

Almost an hour later, an officer at the stop sign at Anthony Road and Boyds Lane saw a car pull into the driveway of the same house.

It was the woman, according to a police report, and when asked what was going on she said she was sorry and just wanted to leave and go home.

The woman allegedly told police that she had been at the house a short time earlier with a female friend “and returned to try and find her friend who she believed had lived there in the past.”

Police said she smelled like alcohol and failed a field sobriety test.

She later refused a chemical test at police headquarters.
