A Peabody woman is accused of stealing more than $30,000 from Mystic Valley Regional Charter School's Parent-Teacher Organization accounts, the office of Middlesex District Attorney Marian T. Ryan told the Boston Globe in a recent report.

Ami Wood, 41, a former Malden resident who now lives in Peabody, became the PTO's treasurer in 2009, the district attorney's office told the Globe. Wood allegedly wrote checks from the PTO accounts to herself and her husband to pay personal expenses and bills, Ryan's spokesman Stephanie Guyotte told the newspaper.

Wood is facing three counts of larceny over $250 and falsifying or omitting entries in the PTO's record books, according to the report.

Wood, who was arraigned Aug. 13 in Middlesex Superior Court and released on personal recognizance, will reappear in court on Oct. 11 for a status hearing, according to the report.

She is a Malden woman. Just because she moved to Peabody doesnt make it a "Peabody" story. Bad writing on the part of the Patch.

If a pyromaniac Nebraskan was on a cross-country road-trip of destruction and made a stop at the Peabody Marriott, the headline would read "Peabody Man Burns Down Marriott." If he stayed there for 2 nights, that counts right??? Unfortunately the Patch will take any opportunity it can get to smear the good name of Peabody...just look at the "top stories" on their home page the last few weeks!
