Cyclist Hits Motor Vehicle on Rte 1

The following are excerpts from reports in the Peabody Police Department press log from July 19-20.

Friday, July 19

  • 2:34 p.m. vandalism was reported on Reed Road. A walk-in visitor reported that their home was egged sometime last night on Reed Road. 
  • 4:19 p.m. a shoplifter was reported at Olympia Sports at the North Shore Mall. The store handled the incident internally. 
  • 5:20 p.m. a possible brush fire was reported on Boston Children's North on Centennial Drive. The Fire Department put out the hotspot. 
  • 5:40 p.m. an Elm Place resident flagged down an officer to report the theft of their leaf blower, valued at $240. 
  • 6:04 p.m. a female reported that a male youth was hit by a motor vehicle while riding his bike on Newbury Street. An officer stated that the vehicle was stationary and the child rode his bike into the vehicle. The operator asked if the child was OK and he stated that he was. The child was transported to Children's North. 
Saturday, July 20
  • 1:25 a.m. a caller reported a car that hit a pole on Jordan Road. The operator of the vehicle was not injured but was cited for texting while driving. 
  • 9:21 a.m. a motor vehicle accident was reported at Dunkin' Donuts on Newbury Street. No injuries were reported. 
  • 4:40 p.m. a caller reported a domestic incident on Blaney Avenue. Police arrested Stephen Siopis, 31, of 12 Blaney Ave. Siopis was charged with assault , assault with a dangerous weapon and malicious destruction of property over $250. 
  • 10:18 p.m. a caller reported a man with a gun on Crane Brook Way. Police arrested Peter Schroeder, of 7233 Crane Brook Way. Schroeder was charged with disorderly conduct and assault with a dangerous weapon.
