Bob Wood, Wood Trucking to be Honored

The Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce (PACC) will present the 2013 Harry Ankeles Community Service award to Robert (Bob) Wood, owner of Wood Trucking Corporation.    Mr. Wood was selected by the Chamber’s community service committee based on his involvement in the community and willingness to lend a hand to benefit the greater good.  A businessman who employs a number of Peabody residents, he is willing to take risks to help others as well as share his time to help someone get back on the right track.  He volunteers his time and resources to help make Peabody shine, from landscaping or mulch for one of the public schools or weeds that need to be removed from a city street.  In addition, Bob is willing to help many youth and non-profit organizations throughout the city, and if someone is in need, he can be counted on to help and assistance without hesitation.

In the words of Martha Holden, chairperson of the PACC’s community service committee, "Bob demonstrates a selfless commitment to Peabody that is very rare.  Few people realize that over many years Bob has volunteered countless hours of his time and his expertise to make the City of Peabody a safer and more attractive place to live and work.  People like Bob are those that make Peabody a great place in which to live, work and raise a family."

“The Harry Ankeles Community Service Award was established by the Peabody Area Chamber over 20 years to recognize a chamber member who exemplifies the spirit of selfless dedication and leadership to the community that Harry Ankeles himself exhibited throughout his life,” Deanne Healey, President & CEO of the PACC.  “Society looks to the business community to play an active role in supporting the very fabric of our city.  Community service comes in many shapes and sizes, but it is a pleasure to have this opportunity annually to recognize an individual that goes above and beyond.”

Bob Wood will be honored at the Chamber’s annual dinner on Wednesday, November 6th at Spinelli’s Function Facility in Lynnfield, MA.   Family, friends and business associates are invited to share in the celebration and recognition of his contributions to Peabody.

The keynote speaker for the event will be Ms. Hank Phillippi Ryan, investigative reporter for 7News in Boston and award-winning mystery author. The evening will begin at 5:30pm with a cocktail reception, followed by dinner at approximately 7:00pm.    Tickets are $65 per person.  Pre-registration is required.    For more information contact the Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce at 978-531-0384.
