A West Peabody tradition continued on the 4th of July as hundreds of Ward 5 and 6 residents came to celebrate at Symphony Park.
One of the highlights came when veteran and former Peabody teacher Jack Lawless, and Army Captain Steve Patten were honored for service to their community and country.
Making the presentations to Mr. Lawless and Captain Patten were Ward 6 Councilor Barry Sinewitz, State Rep Leah Cole, and Mayor Ted Bettencourt.
The day featured a patriotic bike and wagon parade, races for the kids, free throw contests, and other activities. Raffles and a silent auction were held to raise funds for the Ward 6 Scholarship fund.
Several area merchants donated prizes, while Santarpio's provided the pizza.
