Bee Season Starts: 1 Bee Down, 14 to Go

Bee Season as Higgins started with the Broncos today.

The third annual Higgins Middle School Spelling Bee involves all 15 clusters at the school representing grades 6, 7 and 8.

Students first prepped for a Bee or Quiz administered by their classroom English teacher in November. The classroom Bees identified the top spellers in each cluster; each school day in December a different cluster will compete to identify the top two spellers in each cluster.

Today in the library, the top placing Grade 7 Broncos competed: M. Eugenio, M. Herman, J. Milewska, A. Haley, M. Murphy, J. Puzzo, K. Aroke, M. Tracchia, N. Freedman, H. Sherman, J. Logiudice, J. Celona and S. Kelley. After 18 rounds, the two Broncos Bee finalists were: J. Puzzo and H. Sherman. They will join the top two spellers from others clusters to make up the 30-member Higgins Spelling Team.

The Spelling Team will practice as a group after school in the library on Tuesdays.  Spellers are also invited to come to the library during REACH or Academic Support to prepare.
