5 Things You Need to Know Today, Oct. 31

It's Halloween!

Today is Wednesday, Oct. 31. Here are five things to know this Halloween in Peabody.

  1. There are no set trick-or-treating hours in Peabody, but Peabody police recommend 5-8 p.m. for safety's sake.
  2. Don't forget: State Rep. Ted Speliotis wil be chatting live with readers today from noon - 1 p.m. Speliotis is up for re-election once again this year; do you have a question for him before Nov. 6? Our live chat with his opponent Dan Bennett has been rescheduled to Thursday due to Hurricane Sandy.
  3. Vote in the Patch Pet Halloween Costume Contest: Voting opens today, so scroll through our photos, pick your choice to win and tell us which in the comments section by indicating the picture number and the pet’s name. One vote per person please. Voting will end at 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2.
  4. The Best Halloween Costumer in America...is it yours? Enter our contest for a chance to find out and win $5,000. Costume entries accepted through Nov. 1.
  5. And lastly, keep in mind that trash collection this week has been delayed by a day due to Hurricane Sandy. So if your curbside pickup day is normally on Tuesday, collection will occur today instead.
