5 Things to Know: Winter Concerts and Cheapest Gas

Higgins bands are preparing for their winter concerts next week.

Today is Friday, Jan. 18. Here are five things to know today in Peabody.

  1. The campaign: State Rep. candidate Jim Moutsoulas is holding an organizational campaign meeting Jan. 20 (10 a.m. - noon) at the Knights of Columbus, Dave Gravel is kicking off his campaign Jan. 25 (7 p.m.) at the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Greg Bunn is launching his campaign Jan. 28 (7 p.m.) at the Sylvan Street Grille and Beverley Griffin Dunne kicks her campaign off at the KofC on Feb. 1 (7 p.m.).
  2. Flu shots: Beverly Hospital is offering a public walk-in flu clinic on Sunday from 9 a.m. - noon.
  3. MLK Day: Don't forget, there's no school in Peabody on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
  4. HMS winter concerts: The bands at Higgins Middle School are putting on their winter concerts Jan. 22-24. Sixth grad is Jan. 22, seventh grade Jan. 23 and eighth grade Jan. 24. All performances are at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium and tickets are $2.
  5. Cheap gas: The cheapest gallon of gas today is $3.38 for regular unleaded, according to MapQuest. Stop & Shop, Hess and the Sunoco at 144 Newbury St. are all the same price.
