Mall Fills Up With Selena Gomez Fever Saturday [PHOTOS]

Teen star Selena Gomez spent some time answering questions from fans on Saturday at the Northshore Mall during her stop in Peabody on a 10-city tour to promote her new movie, "Monte Carlo."

Teen singer and actress Selena Gomez made a personal appearance at the on Saturday to promote her new movie, “Monte Carlo,” which premieres Friday, July 1.

Thousands of fans, many of whom arrived before dawn and stood in the rain for hours,  came out to catch a glimpse of the Disney beauty, made famous for her role on the Disney Channel series, “Wizards of Waverly Place.”

During the question and answer session MC’d by BJ “Honkey” Lange, fans submitted queries to the starlet via index cards. Fans wanted to know what Paris is really like, and how difficult is was for Gomez to speak with a foreign accent.

When asked who the greatest influence is in her life, Gomez replied: “There’s a lady right back there, she goes by the name of ‘Mom,’ and believe me, she keeps me in line!”

Gomez expressed gratitude to her many fans and encouraged them always to be themselves and follow their dreams, before blowing a kiss to the crowd and disappearing behind the stage.

All told, Gomez spent about 15 minutes on stage, although she was scheduled to talk with fans from 2:30-3:30 p.m.

The mall gave out about 2,400 wrist bands to fans who were then allowed inside the wing to await the main event. Mall spokespersons said fire safety regulations could only allow up to that size crowd in that wing of the mall. Although most fans departed once Gomez exited the building, the event was expected to run until 7 p.m.
