What's Open, Closed on New Year's Day in Peabody

New Year's Day for 2014 is on a Wednesday.

So what's open for New Year's, you ask? Not much.

  • City offices: Closed
  • Schools: Closed
  • Libraries: Closed
  • Banks: Closed
  • Post offices: Closed
  • Retail stores: Closed
  • Grocery stores: Open (Supermarkets close at 9 p.m. and Trader Joe's is closed)
  • Liquor stores: Open
  • Mall: Open (10 a.m. - 6 p.m.)
  • Trash and recycling pickup: No, delayed one day


In addition to liquor stores, some restaurants and bars are open -- best to call ahead -- and it likewise varies by establishment for convenience stores, gas stations, Dunkin' Donuts, etc.

CVS is usually open regular hours while Walgreens may close early.
