Slippery Conditions Lead to Crashes, Clog Rt 128 Friday Morning

The snow Friday morning is wreaking havoc with traffic across the state, particularly on highways.

Route 128 North between Peabody and Beverly was turned into a parking lot for a short while after multiple crashes due to slippery road conditions.

The northbound side of the highway was shut down near Route 1A in Beverly after numerous accidents in that area shortly after 8 a.m. -- no injuries though. The highway was reopened by 9 am.

One of the morning's accidents was also vehicle rollover in Peabody on the Route 128 ramp to I-95 North. There were no injuries reported.

Estimated traffic time between Centennial Drive in Peabody and Route 1A was still 23 minutes at 9:45 am. Normally the drive time is 7 minutes.

Additional accidents were reported near Exit 20 in Beverly, however, around that time.
