Peabody Democrats Hold Successful Citywide Caucus

Peabody Democrats recently held a single site caucus at the Torigian Community Life Center for all wards across the city to elect delegates to the 2014 Massachusetts Democratic Convention at the DCU Center in Worcester on June 13-14. At that time, Democrats from across the state will gather to endorse statewide candidates. City Chair Debbie Ryan and Vice-Chair Tom Gould co-hosted the caucus for the Peabody Democratic City Committee. State Committee members Arthur Powell and Marilyn Hazel were present to observe the proceedings. Peabody had the honor of having the Chairman of the Massachusetts Democratic Party, Tom McGee, personally and officially open the
caucus.

The election results were as follows: Ward 1 delegates are Jason Burnett (Chair), Tom Walsh, Jim Morin, Andrew Arnotis, Noreen Hazelton and Jeanne Carnevale. Alternates are John Sacramone & Chris Ryder. Ward 2 delegates are Beverley Ann Griffin Dunne (Chair), Pete McGinn, Ryan Melville, Marnie Goulding and Jeanette McGinn. Alternates are Jerry Halberstadt & Arthur Athas. Ward 3
delegates are Bernadette McGeney Smith (Chair), Ed Dullea, Jr., Mike Dullea, Amber Moutsoulas and Paula Eckel. Alternates are Russ Eckel and Kathleen Macione. Ward 4 delegates are Corinne
Jean-Pramas (Vice Chair), Debbie Ryan (City Chair),Mike Ryan, Ed Lomasney III, Mary Schulze, Barbara Brown and Mike Schulze. Ward 5 delegates are Joel Saslaw (Chair), Kevin McHugh,
Andrew Diamond, Carole Saslaw and Maureen McHugh. Alternate is Jason Panos. Ward 6 delegates are Ann Mitsopoulos (Chair), Ted Bettencourt (Mayor), Tom Paras, Barry Sinewitz, Jessica
O’Hara & Denise Licata. Alternates are Sharon Cvinar & Diane Reynolds.

Many elected officials and candidates were present to support Peabody Democrats prior to the start of the caucus and at a reception immediately following. Clearly the most beloved Peabody Democrat there was Senator Fred Berry who was warmly welcomed with the loudest applause and a standing
ovation as he was thanked for his 30 years of service!

Other elected officials there who spoke to the crowd were Mayor Ted Bettencourt, Congressman John Tierney, District Attorney Jon Blodgett, Senator Joan Lovely, Representative Ted Speliotis and
Governor’s Councilwoman Eileen Duff. Gubernatorial candidates Don Berwick and Joe Avellone and Congressional candidate Seth Moulton were also in attendance as well as many staffers for
candidates who circulated nomination papers & campaign literature.
