SALEM, MA – October is always a big month in Salem, but the organizers of the Salem CultureFest are hoping July will be just as big – with your help.
African Development through Drum and Dance (A3D), which organizes the event, is seeking artists, exhibitors, vendors, volunteers, and performers to be a part of the 8th annual celebration, being held on the Salem Common on July 19th and 20th. Over 2,000 visitors are expected to enjoy local and international music, art, and entertainment.
“The goal of this event is to bring culture to Salem and have everyone learn from their roots,” said Mamadou Diop, President of A3D. “Salem CultureFest will bring awareness to learn about their culture and other cultures through dance and music.”
Previous CultureFest performers have included several reggae groups, African drum ensembles, jazz trios, traditional Irish and Scottish music, and singer/songwriters.
Funds raised by the CultureFest will assist A3D in supporting educational development and distributing medical supplies in West Africa, as well as making a donation to a local charitable organization.
For more information, visit salemculturefest.com or email artist.vendorinfo@a3dinc.org. The deadline for vendor and artist applications is June 1st.
