School Building Team to Check Out Architect's Work at Danvers High

Here's what you need to know today in Peabody.

Today is Thursday, Aug. 15. Here are five things to know today in Peabody.

  1. The Higgins School Building Committee is scheduled to pay a visit to Danvers High School on Thursday afternoon where major renovations to the 50-year-old building are nearing completion. The architect on that project is DiNisco Design Partnerships, which is also working on the new Higgins Middle School. Superintendent Joe Mastrocola said the intent of the visit is to check out the design of the building.
  2. If you're all signed up to play this fall, sports tryouts begin next week. Football is Aug. 19 at PVMHS and all other sports are either Aug. 22 or 26.
  3. The Coordinated Family & Community Engagement program is gearing up for another season of free playgroups for local families. Register today.
  4. Our Lady of Fatima Church is holding a giant indoor yard sale on Saturday, starting at 9 a.m.
  5. For this Sunday's free concert in the park, it's the Lee Hawkins Band (6 p.m.) at the Leather City Common. The venue will be moved to City Hall in case of inclement weather.
