Hank Phillippi Ryan at Library Tonight and 'Our Town' Opens

Here's what you need to know today in Peabody.

Today is Thursday, Nov. 14. Here are five things to know today in Peabody.

  1. The Bishop Fenwick Crusaders' volleyball team fell to Notre Dame Academy of Hingham last night, 3-0, in the semi-final round of the state championship. It was a quite a run for the Crusaders.
  2. Hank Phillippi Ryan was the guest speaker at the Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce's annual dinner last week and she'll be back in Peabody again Thursday at the Peabody Institute Library for a special book signing and conversation about her newest crime novel, "The Wrong Girl."
  3. The Peabody High drama club Stage One presents "Our Town," starting Thursday. Shows run through Friday and Saturday.
  4. The Peabody City Council meets Thursday. First up is the Legal Affairs Committee (6:30 p.m.), followed by the Finance Committee (7 p.m.) and then the regular meeting (7:30 p.m.).
  5. Starbucks is running a special promotion on its holiday beverages again through Sunday -- if you buy one holiday drink between 2 and 5 p.m., you get a second one free.
