Police Say Drugs Found in School Sandbox

The following are excerpts from reports in the press log from Nov. 29-30.

Tuesday, Nov. 29

  • 2:24 p.m. A person turned in a small box of miscellaneous items found on the roof of the store on Main Street. No further details were available.
  • 2:58 p.m. A caller at a mobile home park on Route 1 reported his neighbor kicked over his fence. An officer reported the dispute between the neighbors was settled; the fence was taken down.
  • 3:23 p.m. The animal control officer reported hired an exterminator to deal with some birds at the store. The officer said a bird shoot was planned for 5 a.m. the next day. The exterminator was also instructed to check in with police before firing off any shots.
  • 6:53 p.m. Christopher R. Sidebottom, 30, of 38 Cornell Rd., Beverly, was arrested on Summit Street, following a motor vehicle stop. Sidebottom was charged with driving with a revoked registration and operating an uninsured and unregistered vehicle.
  • 7:03 p.m. Jason L. Gachignard, 26, of 461 Rantoul St. #2, Beverly, was arrested on Shore Drive, following a motor vehicle stop. He was charged on two outstanding warrants from Haverhill District Court for motor vehicle violations.
  • 7:17 p.m. A caller reported a young girl at the stole her iPhone 4. The incident initially happened on Friday and the victim reported it to mall security at the time. She said the suspect was a small, white female about 10 to 12 years old.
  • 7:51 p.m. Police received a report of a past car break-in at . Someone smashed the front driver’s side window and took a purse.

Wednesday, Nov. 30

  • 7:27 a.m. Bryan F. Sollazzo, 26, of 16 Fairvew Ave., Wilmington, was arrested, following a break-in at 149 Washington St. Sollazzo was charged with breaking and entering in the daytime for a felony.
  • 8:26 a.m. A child was transported to North Shore Children’s Hospital with a fishhook in the finger after a call came in from the Brown School Residences on Lynn Street.
  • 9:18 a.m. A caller at T/A Enterprises on Walnut Street reported three unruly customers refused to leave the business. An officer reported the dispute was over equipment that wasn’t delivered. The individuals were advised to settle their dispute in court.
  • 9:22 a.m. Public safety officers conducted a mock lockdown at .
  • 11:46 a.m. An officer reported recovering property that had been stolen from the Goldrush location inside the .
  • 11:58 a.m. Police said some drugs that were found in a sandbox at the were turned in at the station. No further details were available.
  • 12:12 p.m. A 40-year-old Newburyport man was issued a summons for assault with a dangerous weapon (a motor vehicle) after a male caller reported his ex-business partner tried to run him over in the parking lot at the . No further details were available.
  • 12:13 p.m. The owner of Codnan Realty on Lowell Street reported the front window of his business was damaged. The incident was reported as vandalism.
  • 1:15 p.m. A caller on Veterans Memorial Drive reported her home was entered and a burglar stole a 46-inch flat screen TV. There were no suspects.
