Monday Essentials: Changes in Store for Rt 1 Pool Hall, Sports Paperwork Days and Peach Festival

Here's what's coming up this week in Peabody.

Today is Monday, Aug. 12. Here's a look at the week ahead in Peabody.

  1. The management and name of World Class Billiards appears to be slotted for a change. The Licensing Board is conducting a public hearing Monday night to transfer ownership of a beer and wine license held by John Magulas and Joseph DeAmato (World Class Billiards) to Big Shots Saloon LLC with Nancy Pagliarulo as the manager of record. The address given for Big Shots is the same -- 82 Newbury St. According to online records, Pagliarulo is listed as an owner of World Class Billiards. The hearing is set for 7 p.m. in the basement conference room at City Hall.
  2. Any students who want to play or try out for fall sports at Peabody High need to turn in their signed parental permission slips, doctor's physical forms and concussion forms on Wednesday or Thursday this week. Time slots are scheduled for football, field hockey and golf on Wednesday and soccer, volleyball and cross country on Thursday. Tryouts start next week.
  3. The Higgins School Building Committee is scheduled to pay a visit to Danvers High School on Thursday afternoon where major renovations to the 50-year-old building are nearing completion. The architect on that project is also DiNisco Design Partnerships.
  4. Stop down to Brooksby Farm Saturday for a peach festival from noon - 3 p.m. More details here.
  5. For this Sunday's free concert in the park, it's the Lee Hawkins Band (6 p.m.) at the Leather City Common. The venue will be moved to City Hall in case of inclement weather.
