Peabody West Roars Back With Big Win Over Holden

The Peabody West Little League all-stars are now 1-1 in the state finals tournament.

After Friday night's loss to Hanover, Peabody West roared back Saturday, drubbing Holden, 20-10, in five innings in the second round of the state Little League finals.

The game did not start off in Peabody's favor, however, as the Tanner City kids failed to score and then trailed Holden by three at the end of the first inning.

Peabody West quickly rallied back with a huge second inning, driving in seven runs before Holden could get three outs. The third set continued the back and forth until Peabody's Dan Marshall knocked out a grand slam to make it 12-8.

Peabody West was up 20-8 as Holden took its last at-bats, scoring two more runs.

Peabody West now plays Newton South East Sunday (3:30 p.m.) in a game that was originally scheduled for the first round, but postponed due to rain.

Peabody and Hanover are now 1-1 in the tournament, while Newton is 2-0 and Holden is 0-2. Hanover and Holden play again Sunday (11 a.m.).
