Farewell Sgt. Argo

Argo was the Peabody Police Department's K9 for 10 years.

If you were wondering why the flag at the police station was at half mast Thursday, it was in honor of Sgt. Argo.

Argo, the department's K9, died on Thursday, having spent 10 years with the Peabody Police Department.

A message on the department's Facebook page said Argo was cared for by Sgt. Eric Zawacki and Detective Stephanie Lane during the German Shepherd's career in law enforcement and subsequent retirement.

"They provided a loving and caring home for Argo and his brother Bailey and sister Chelsea. It was amusing to see a toy and a medium sized dog with a police shepherd play together," says the Facebook message.

"We mourn his passing and our condolences go out to both Eric and Stephanie. He will be sorely missed and never replaced."
