Peabody Skating Club Show a Magical Experience

Club held 36th annual show at the O'Keefe Skating Rink on Monday evening.

The Peabody Skating Club held its 36th annual show Monday night that allowed its young members to display their talents on ice in front of their families and friends. The O'Keefe Skating Rink was transformed into a showcase of young girls who dream of achieving great things on the ice after practicing their routines countless hours. The show is always great entertainment for members of the public who enjoy figure skating. As for the young ladies who performed so well Monday evening, they are all figure skating stars in the making. Peabody's Patriots Day Celebrated Veterans

While holiday centered around seven South Danvers men who fell at the Battle of Lexington, veterans of many wars were honored on Monday.

Peabody's Patriots Day celebration honored veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice at the Battle of Lexington on April 19, 1775 in what was the first engagement of the Revolutionary War. But throughout the day, city officials, members of the Peabody Historical Society and local veterans groups paid tribute to many other veterans who fought in several wars to protect the freedom of Americans everywhere. Finally, Spring Has Returned to Peabody

After a not so funny April Fool's Day snowstorm and a few other starts and stops, city residents are finally enjoying spring after a long, cold winter.

The official first day of spring falls on March 21, but this year it has taken spring a little longer to arrive in Peabody just as Easter falls on April 24 this year. But finally, after a not so funny April Fool's Day snowstorm and a few starts and stops, city residents can now enjoy spring after enduring a long, hard winter. This week's viewfinder shot by photographer Christine Cloutier shows show city residents are enjoying spring by either raking their yards and planting their gardens to just getting outside and enjoying the warmer weather. Let's just hope Old Man Winter is really through with us.

'Taste of the North Shore' Raises Thousands of Dollars to Fight Cancer

Event at Acura of Peabody attracted several city residents and business leaders and showcased food from 10 North Shore restaurants.

The "Taste of North Shore" was held Wednesday evening at Acura of Peabody to help North Shore Medical Center raise money for its 21st annual North Shore Cancer Walk. The event featured cuisine from 10 North Shore restaurants, including the Pellana Prime Steakhouse and Treadwell's Ice Cream of Peabody. Participants were also able to bid on several great live and silent auction items. Kevin Noyes, chairman of the 2011 walk and director of the Danversbank Charitable Foundation said the Taste of the North Shore and the cancer walk raised $912,000 last year and they hoped to raise $950,000 this year to fund wellness programs for cancer patients in Danvers and also fund the contruction of an inpatient oncology center at the North Shore Medical …

Lady Tanners Basketball Enjoyed Great Moments

Peabody High Girls basketball team was competive throughout the 2010-2011 season.

The Peabody Tanners Varsity Girls Basketball team had a very up and down season that contained many memorable moments for their fans. The Peabody High team didn't make the playoffs, but played many close games against many formidable opponents during the 2010/2011 season which ended last month. As the nation watches March Madness to see which college basketball team will emerge as this years NCAA champion, this week's Viewfinder offers a look back at the Peabody Tanners Girls basketball season. Peabody High Varsity Boys Hockey Team Had a Great Season

The Peabody High Varsity Boys Ice Hockey team enjoyed a very strong season before it ended with a playoff loss to Tewksbury in the MIAA tournament. Peabody Patch covered nearly all of their games and provided fans and family members with many images to help preserve this team's never say die spirit and remember the team's highs and lows. IMAGE GALLERY: North Shore Responds to Bostik Explosion

Crews from across the North Shore and the state responded to the Bostik explosion in Middleton Sunday night.

Local and state agencies responded to Middleton Sunday night after there was an explosion at the Bostik chemical plant in Middleton that was felt across the North Shore. Four were injured in the explosion. Officials said none of the injuries were life-threatening. Peabody firefighters and Peabody Police officers were among the many emergency responders at the scene. Officials said air quality was not comprimised; water in the area was still being inspected for contamination. There were no evacuations. The cause of the explosion is still under investigation.

Families Take Advantage of YMCA in a Big Way

Torigian Family YMCA gives parents, kids plenty to do in the dead of winter.

On any given day, the parking lot outside the Torigian Family YMCA on Lynnfield Street is usually full of cars and that is especially true after school between the hours of 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. And it is not surprising given the multitude of activities and programs available to families. This facility, which serves Peabody and Lynnfield offers everything from swimming and a rock climbing wall to a basketball court and full fitness center. Photographer Christine Cloutier spent some time there last week to show what a typical day is like at the Torigian Family YMCA for this week's Viewfinder.

It's Hockey Night at the O'Keefe Skating Rink

The Peabody High Tanners boys hockey games drew plenty of enthusiastic fans this season who enjoy being in each other's company.

The Peabody High Tanners boys ice hockey games proved to be great fun for families and community members who cheered their on this season. A week before the Tanners played and lost in their only MIAA tournament game against Tewksbury, their fans enjoyed an evening of hockey when the hometown team took on Braintree High. Photographer Christine Cloutier captured many of the faces of Peabody residents who frequented those games to provide some insight into the sights and sounds at the O'Keefe Skating Rink this season with this week's Viewfinder.
