Peabody Man Faces Attempted Murder Charge After Incident Outside Home Depot

A Peabody man is expected to be arraigned Monday morning on a slew of charges stemming from an incident outside of the Salem Home Depot.

A Peabody man accused of strangling a woman and attacking police officers near the Home Depot in Salem Saturday night is expected to be arraigned on an attempted murder charge Monday morning. Dana K. Turgeon, 42, of 573 Lowell St., Peabody, was arrested on charges of assault and battery, attempted murder, intimidating a witness, kidnapping, two counts of assault and battery on a police officer, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, resisting arrest and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. At 7:43 p.m. on Saturday, Salem police received word that a motor vehicle was driving erratically on Highland Avenue and another motorist noticed a female passenger who appeared to be in distress. Men Charged With Peabody Holdup Suspects in Other North Shore Robberies

Police say two men arrested in recent days are suspects in similar armed robberies in Peabody, Salem, Beverly and Danvers.

Police have arrested a second man now in connection to the armed robbery Sunday night at Town Variety on Central Street. Dennis M. Porter, 43, of 25 Greatwoods Rd., Lynn, was taken into custody without incident at Pine Grove Estates on Route 1 shortly before 10 a.m. on Wednesday on a warrant for a probation violation and a charge of armed robbery. Glenn Roderick, 41, of 18 Elm St. #2, Peabody, was arrested on a warrant for armed robbery Monday afternoon. Police spokesman Detective Michael Crane said in a statement issued Wednesday afternoon that Porter is also a suspect in similar robberies in Beverly, Salem and Danvers, and those incidents remain under investigation. Police Investigate Whether Suspects Also Robbed Salem 7-Eleven

Salem police detectives are investigating the possibility that the key suspect in an armed robbery in Peabody was the same man who held up a 7-Eleven in Salem on Nov. 16.

Salem police say they are looking at a Peabody man arrested Monday in connection to an armed robbery as a possible suspect in a similar robbery Nov. 16 at a convenience store in Salem. The description of the suspect in Sunday night's robbery at Town Variety in Peabody -- a white male in his 40s, who was dressed in a dark plaid green jacket, black winter hat and jeans and wielding a small black handgun -- appears to match exactly this surveillance image taken during the armed robbery at a 7-Eleven in Salem. Salem Police Capt. Thomas Griffin said Tuesday that detectives Brian St. Pierre and Dennis Gaudet have been working closely with Peabody police since early Monday morning and are "taking a very close look" at whether the two robberies …

Authorities Nab Six in Multi-Agency Drug Raids

Six North Shore men, including one Peabody resident, were arrested Friday morning. Police seized thousands of oxycodone pills, more than $50,000 in cash and a gun.

Authorities arrested six local men, including one Peabody resident, Friday morning in several drug raids across the North Shore. One of the men was also identified as the owner of Bangkok Paradise in Salem. Essex Country District Attorney's office spokeswoman Carrie Kimball-Monahan said warrants were executed at 10 different locations in Lynn, Peabody, Salem and Danvers and police also seized thousands of oxycodone pills along with more than $50,000 in cash and a gun. She said the arrests were the result of a "long-term, multi-agency drug investigation." Missing Peabody Woman Found in Salem

The elderly Peabody woman, who has a history of Alzheimer's, was found safe and sound on Bridge Street in Salem.

An 85-year-old Peabody woman, who went missing from her home on Davis Terrace, was found this afternoon in Salem by police officers. The woman has a history of Alzheimer's. Police said Violet Newey of Peabody was located at Jefferson at Salem Station, a condo complex near the MBTA station, at approximately 1:20 p.m. She did not appear to be physically injured in any way, but an ambulance was called to the scene to evaluate her as a precaution and transport her to Salem Hospital. Newey's husband reported her as missing this morning around 10:30 a.m. after he awoke to find her gone. He told Peabody police he last saw her around 10 p.m. last night on her way up to bed. Officer Spots Drug Deal By Chance; Peabody Man 1 of 2 Arrested

A 33-year-old Peabody man was one of two arrested in Salem after police broke up a drug deal Thursday afternoon.

Salem police arrested two men (one from Peabody, one from Beverly) and broke up a drug deal in their city Thursday afternoon thanks to an officer who just happened to be passing by at the right time, reports the Salem News. Matthew Penney, 33, of 7 Hunt St., Peabody, and Lawrence Kline, 25, of 510 Hale St., Beverly, were taken into custody in the parking lot of Bay State Billiards on Washington Street in Salem for multiple drug violations. The Salem News reports officers found more than 100 pills on Penney, including OxyContin, oxymorphone and alprazolam, and some methadone. Police Capture Man Fleeing Salem Robbery

Man arrested after striking Salem police cruiser and then bailing from his pickup truck and leading police on a foot chase.

Peabody police arrested a man Saturday after he robbed a Salem business, struck a Salem police cruiser with his vehicle and then led police on a foot chase, according to scanner reports. The cruiser, struck at approximately 3:16 p.m., was disabled and needed to be towed, according to reports. The address of the robbery was listed at 450 Highland Ave. — the address of the Walmart close to the Lynn border. Lynn, Salem, Peabody and Salem State forces assisted with the chase. Reports indicate the suspect initially fled in a pickup truck, then bailed it and fled on foot in the Gallows Hill area. The suspect was wearing an orange shirt. Peabody Man Takes Salem Officer to Floor During Arrest

Police said the incident occurred in the early morning hours Saturday.

Salem police say a Peabody man took an officer to the floor while resisting arrest in the early hours Saturday morning. Joseph Taylor Lewis, 23, of 35 Lynn St. in Peabody, was arrested on charges of malicious destruction of property over $250 and resisting arrest after police responded to 260 Washington St. in Salem on a report of a fight at 2:45 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived in the lobby of the building, police said they spoke with a woman who said she witnessed a man "yelling and screaming that someone is gonna get their [expletive] kicked — he was punching the walls, kicking and he punched the window and smashed it," police said. Peabody Man Nabbed for Breaking Replica of Historic Salem Bell

A Peabody man was caught breaking a bell at Armory Park in Salem with ice in his hand. This was the second incident last week involving ice sculptures.

A Peabody man was arrested Friday night in Salem after police say he damaged the bell at Armory Park while having a fight with ice from one of the Salem's so Sweet ice sculptures. Stephen Siopis, 30, of Peabody was arrested on charges connected with the incident. Just after 10:30 p.m. scanner reports indicated youths were destroying an ice sculpture and throwing ice at a car and bell at Armory Park. "There were supposedly three young adults throwing ice, allegedly having an ice fight," Lt. Mary Butler of the Salem Police Department said early Saturday morning. Peabody Man Charged with Armed Robbery at Salem Market

A 42-year-old Peabody man was arrested Wednesday and charged with an armed robbery at a neighborhood market in Salem the night before.

Police have arrested a Peabody man in connection with a Tuesday night armed robbery at Kwik Shop Market & Deli on Jefferson Avenue in Salem. Hosea Kendrick, 42, of Driscoll Street in Peabody was arrested at his home at approximately 1:30 p.m. Wednesday by Salem and Peabody detectives, Salem Police said. Kendrick has a criminal history, which has included jail time for offenses including assault and battery, larceny and armed robbery. In 2010 he was charged with stealing a cash register from the Salem Dollar Store, according to the Salem News.
