Heat Advisory in Effect Today; Stay Out of the Sun
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory from 1-7 p.m. for much of Southern New England.
Today is going to be a scorcher, with heat index values up 102 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The actual temperature is expected to reach the mid 90s in the Peabody area, but high humidity levels will make it feel much hotter and can cause dangerous conditions for anyone ill-prepared. The NWS issued a heat advisory early this morning that is in effect from 1 to 7 p.m. and says that with the heat indices so high, it could result in "dangerous conditions for those spending prolonged periods of time outside."
