Kathleen Glennon comes to Peabody from Amesbury, where she oversaw special education and student services for that district.
Just four weeks after announcing an interim hire to lead the district's Special Education Department, School Superintendent Joe Mastrocola had a candidate for the permanent job before the School Committee Tuesday night. The committee unanimously gave its consent to hire Kathleen Glennon, following high praise from Mastrocola. For her part (taking the stage briefly), Glennon simply said she was "delighted to be [there]." Glennon is currently the Director of Student Services and Special Education for the Amesbury Public Schools, where she has been since 2006. In that position, she also oversees English Language Learners, homeless students, guidance, school nuring and out-of-district students, along with some teacher evaluations and …

Both vacant positions have now been filled on a temporary basis until permanent hires can be made.
Peabody school officials announced today that both the principal position at the Carroll School and the special education director post have been filled on an interim basis. Paul Guerrette, a retired elementary school principal from Reading, will serve as the temporary principal at the Carroll, the city's largest elementary school, while Joan Endicott returns to Peabody to lead the special education department until a permanent hire is made. At his last post before retiring, Guerrette led a successful effort to have the school selected by state education officials as one of seven schools in Massachusetts to be designated a Carnegie School. The 1988 educational reform initiative promoted new practices and governance structures in schools. …

Peabody's special education director was just hired to return to Dracut as that school district's new superintendent.
Steven Stone, the Peabody schools' special education director, will be returning to Dracut soon. Stone, 47, was hired last week to become Dracut's new superintendent, reports the Lowell Sun. That creates the fourth administrative vacancy now (in addition to two principals and a human resources director) before incoming Peabody Superintendent Joseph Mastrocola is set to take over on July 1. Stone was hired in 2010 to replace Patricia Bullard, who also departed after two years in the post. Bullard took a similar job in North Reading. She was promoted to the Peabody job after Jean Shea retired. The Sun reports that Stone, who served as Dracut's special education director before coming to Peabody, was initially considered for the top post by …

Congratulations. That has to be the most ignorant comment in Patch history. Not to mention your erroneous capitalization of the "e" in education....and failure to capitalize the "b" in biggest...and that "tax payers" is really one word. Where were you educated?   more ›
