Registration is now open for residents to sign up for a Community Supported Agriculture program at a library near you. The local CSA is the result of a parternship between the Peabody Institute Library and Silverbrook Farm in Dartmouth. That means that Peabodyites can buy shares of fresh fruits and vegetables from the farm for the coming growing season. Different types of produce are available as they come in season, ranging from peas and tomatoes to grapes and squash. Melons, peaches and carrots may also be available some weeks, depending on the month. CSA shares at Silverbrook also include cheese, eggs, jam and mustard. Two information sessions will be held next week for anyone interested in learning more about a new CSA program the library is helping bring to Peabody residents.
Peabody residents will have yet another option to purchase fresh produce and other local farm goods this summer and reduce their carbon footprint. The Peabody Institute Library and the city of Peabody are sponsoring a Community Supported Agriculture program (CSA) with Silverbrook Farm out of Dartmouth. Before residents sign up for shares in the programs, two information sessions for anyone interested will be held March 6 at the West Branch (4 p.m.) and at the Main Branch (6:30 p.m.).
