A 21-year-old Lynn man, who has evaded police for the past two months, was finally caught on Friday and will face numerous charges in connection to a non-fatal shooting on Washington Street this past January.
Police say they've finally apprehended the man they believe is responsible for shooting a Peabody man at his Washington Street apartment in January of this year. Around 8:55 p.m. on Jan. 3, Peabody officers responded to a report of a possible shooting at an apartment above D'Orsi's Bakery on Washington Street. Police arrived to discover 27-year-old resident John Leger with a gunshot wound to his thigh. Leger was taken to Mass. General Hospital and later released. Within three days, police had identified their prime suspect with assistance from detectives assigned to the District Attorney's office and the Lynn gang unit. They said the shooting was not a random act of violence. An arrest warrant was then issued for Aquiles Antonio Bernabe-…

The 18-year-old Peabody male who was shot multiple times at a Washington Street apartment Thursday is in critical, but stable condition at Mass. General Hospital, and police remain tight-lipped about any developments in the case since then. Peabody Police Detective Michael Crane said Tuesday afternoon the investigation is still open and no arrests have been made. Crane said detectives assigned to the district attorney's office are assisting in the investigation and further details of the case are not being publicly disclosed at this time. That includes information on possible suspects and even how many people were involved in the incident. The one thing police do stress is they don't believe the shooting was a random act of violence. …

Police say the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.
Authorities have identified a suspect in last week's shooting at a Washington Street apartment that left one male with a gunshot wound to his leg. Aquiles Antonio Bernabe-Deleon, 21, of Lynn, is now wanted on charges of armed robbery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (a gun), unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling. Peabody police were at the scene of a shooting Thursday night in the downtown area. One victim was taken to a Boston hospital and detectives were searching for another man believed to be involved in the incident.
Peabody police were at the scene of a shooting at a Washington Street apartment Thursday night. At approximately 8:55 p.m., a call came in of a shooting at 197 Washington St. with one victim. That person -- a male -- was taken by ambulance to Mass. General Hospital in Boston. Police Lt. Arthur Yeo said Thursday night that the victim's condition was not life-threatening and it was unclear if the male actually lived at the address. The apartment was one of three units above D'Orsi's Bakery & Delicatessen. Yeo said EMTs and officers arrived at the scene to find the person who dialed 911 with the victim. He said that, as of last night, there was one male whom police were searching for in order to question. Yeo did not label that person as a …
