Woman Alleges Man She Met Online Tried to Force Her Into Sexual Acts

Peabody man charged with domestic assault and battery and making threats after allegedly trying to force woman he met online into sexual acts against her will.

Peabody police arrested a 24-year-old resident Thursday afternoon for allegedly trying to force a woman he met online into sexual acts against her will. Richard J. Mottola, 24, of 1 Anne Dr., Peabody, was arrested at 3:46 p.m. and charged with domestic assault and battery and threats to commit a crime. Mottola was taken into custody after Woburn police informed Peabody officers that there was probable cause to arrest him for his alleged actions in Woburn. Police said Mottola met a Woburn woman online through the “Plenty of Fish” website and attempted to force the woman into sexual acts against her will. Mottola also allegedly left threatening voicemails for the victim, which were replayed for the police Thursday, they said.
