The Peabody Tanners boys track team had just lost its track meet to the Marblehead High Magicians, 75-61, and the girls track team hoped to avoid a sweep. It didn't happen. The Peabody Tanners girls track team fell to Marblehead High, 70-66, after the Lady Magicians won the 4x400 meter relay, which proved to be the deciding event. The double track meet loss represented a major defeat for the Peabody Tanners track program which is one of the top schools in the Northeastern Conference. But the Lady Tanners didn't lose their meet without putting up a fight and winning their share of events. Sarah May out ran the Magicians in the 400 and 800-meter events.
