Missing Peabody Woman Found in Salem

The elderly Peabody woman, who has a history of Alzheimer's, was found safe and sound on Bridge Street in Salem.

An 85-year-old Peabody woman, who went missing from her home on Davis Terrace, was found this afternoon in Salem by police officers. The woman has a history of Alzheimer's. Police said Violet Newey of Peabody was located at Jefferson at Salem Station, a condo complex near the MBTA station, at approximately 1:20 p.m. She did not appear to be physically injured in any way, but an ambulance was called to the scene to evaluate her as a precaution and transport her to Salem Hospital. Newey's husband reported her as missing this morning around 10:30 a.m. after he awoke to find her gone. He told Peabody police he last saw her around 10 p.m. last night on her way up to bed. Peabody and Salem police searched the general area, along with a state …

Police Searching for Missing Elderly Woman

Police are searching for a missing Peabody woman who has a history of Alzeimer's. She went missing Thursday night.

Peabody police and a state police air wing are searching for an elderly woman this morning in the east end of Peabody near the Salem line. Police said 85-year-old Violet Newey, who lives at 8 Davis Ter., was last seen around 10 p.m. Thursday at her home. Hewey has a history of Alzheimer's and lives with her husband. Police Capt. Dennis Bonaiuto said the husband called police around 10:30 a.m. Friday to her report as missing. He told police he last saw her heading up to her bedroom and then awoke in the morning to find her gone. Bonaiuto said Newey apparently likes to go walking and possibly covered a lot of ground in the time between Thursday night and Friday morning. Newey is described as 5-5 and 160 pounds with light gray hair. She was …
