How Late Are Stores Open Today?

Only Toys R Us and Burlington Coat Factory plan to stay open later tonight for last-minute Christmas shopping.

Toys R Us is the only big box store around planning to stay open late tonight for last minute Christmas gifts. Many department stores, along with the giant toy store, actually stayed open through the night on Sunday, allowing shoppers to peruse the aisles at 3 a.m. if that worked for them. Toys R Us will now stay open until 10 p.m. Christmas Eve while the Northshore Mall and even its anchor department stores and Barnes & Noble all close at 6 p.m. Shopping hours are the same over at the Liberty Tree Mall across the way in Danvers. The Burlington Coat Factory up the road on Route 114 will be open until 8 p.m. All retail stores are closed Tuesday on Christmas Day.

Downtown Art Center to Kick Off Holidays With Open House

Peabody's new downtown art center will hold a holiday open house next Thursday, Dec. 1 to show off all it has to offer. Stop by to purchase holiday gifts, view the "Leather or Knot" exhibit one last time and meet local artists.

The ArcWorks Community Art Center will showcase all that it has to offer at its first ever holiday open house on Thursday, Dec. 1. first-time holiday open house Thursday, Dec. 1. The open house, which runs from 6-8 p.m., also serves to kick-off holiday hours at the center and give the public an opportunity to see new items in the gift shop. From Dec. 1-23, seasonal hours will be 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday (closed Sunday and Monday). It's been several months since the downtown art center first opened its doors for that purpose inside the former post office on Foster Street.
