Tierney Rebuts Recent Claims by Eremian Brothers

Incumbent Congressman Tierney defends wife, denies any ethical lapses, in response to media reports that Eremian brothers say he knew of illegal activities. Tierney says Tisei's criticism on this is only to score political points.

Congressman John Tierney told reporters on Wednesday that his two brothers-in-law are "trying to blame anyone but themselves" with their recent claims that he knew about their illegal activities. Tierney also suggested that an angry and bitter Daniel and Robert Eremian lashed out because "their brother-in-law in Congress didn't make this go away for them." Reporters spent about 45 minutes asking Tierney about the two brothers of his wife, Patrice. Last week, Daniel Eremian received a three-year sentence for gambling-related charges and made news when he claimed that Tierney had known about the family's illicit business pursuits. The brothers indicated that Tierney allowed his wife to plead guilty because he was concerned about a House …

Robert Eremian Speaks Out, Says Tierney Knew

Congressman Tierney's fugitive brother-in-law is echoing another brother-in-law's claim.

On Thursday, U.S. Rep. John Tierney's brother-in-law Daniel Eremian was sentenced for racketeering related to his involvement in his brother Robert Eremian's illegal offshore gambling organization. After his sentencing, Daniel Eremian told reporters that Tierney had known about the illegal business and that Tierney's wife Patrice was told to take the fall for it in order to save Tierney's political career. And now, the fugitive Robert Eremian himself is reportedly saying the same. The Boston Globe is reporting that, in a telephone interview from the Caribbean, Robert Eremian said he could confirm his brother's claim and said that Tierney lied about his involvement to avoid a House Ethics Committee investigation. Robert Eremian has …

Tierney Brother-in-Law Sentenced, Claims Tierney Lied

The congressman's brother-in-law spoke out against him after the sentencing.

Daniel Eremian, brother-in-law of Congressman John Tierney, was sentenced to three years in prison on Thursday for racketeering for his role in his brother's illegal offshore gambling operation. Daniel Eremian's brother Robert Eremian, now a fugitive, was convicted of operating an illegal offshore gambling business in Antigua. In 2010, Congressman Tierney's wife Patrice pleaded guilty to filing false tax returns while managing a Massachusetts bank account into which funds from that illegal gaming operation were being funneled. And Daniel Eremian's sentence wasn't even the bombshell of the day. According to the Salem News, Daniel Eremian said to a reporter that Congressman Tierney had lied, that Tierney knew everything about the illegal …

Tierney's Brother-in-Law Convicted

The conviction relates to an illegal gambling operation his brother runs in Antigua.

Congressman John Tierney's brother-in-law Daniel Eremian was convicted of racketeering relating to his brother Robert Eremian's illegal offshore gambling operation Monday. Tierney's wife Patrice served a month in jail after pleading guilty last year to helping her brother Robert manage a bank account into which funds from the gambling operation, based in Antigua, were being funneled, as well as helping him file false tax returns. She has maintained that she did not know the details of the gambling operation and managed the bank account to take care of Robert Eremian's children. Robert Eremian allegedly operated a lucrative illegal online gambling business for nearly 20 years. Police raided his home in Lynnfield in 1996, which cast bad …
