The Salem man who allegedly stole a car Tuesday in the Witch City after macing his victim and is also suspected of a similar carjacking incident in Peabody on Aug. 26, is slated to return to court on Sept. 5 for a dangerousness hearing, according to the District Attorney's Office. Morales, 39, of 14 Heritage Dr., is facing charges of carjacking, larceny of a motor vehicle, two counts of assault and battery by a dangerous weapon and four counts of larceny of property over $250 after the Tuesday incident which began on Goodhue Street. Police said a carjacking in Salem Tuesday launched an investigation that involved two local departments.
A Salem man was arrested Tuesday after an armed carjacking in the Witch City, and police believe the same man is responsible for a similar incident that occurred in Peabody on Sunday. Johan M. Morales, 39, of 14 Heritage Dr., Salem, is facing charges of carjacking, larceny of a motor vehicle, two counts of assault and battery by a dangerous weapon and four counts of larceny of property over $250 in connection with the Salem incident after a swift investigation Tuesday.
