Administrators and key district personnel attended a two-day summit last week in preparation for the new year ahead. New Deputy Commissioner of Education Alan Ingram also came up to speak about state initiatives.
[The following was submitted by Superintendent of Schools Joseph Mastrocola's office.] Superintendent Joseph Mastrocola convened a two-day administrative leadership summit August 21 and 22 at the Carroll School to help principals and other key personnel prepare for the 2012-2013 school year. “This was a great opportunity for us to get together and really fine tune our mission and the goals that we have for the year ahead,” Mastrocola said. “As a new superintendent, I think forums like these are critical to establishing an open and inclusive dialogue with the members of my leadership team. Good communication helps us stay focused on what’s most important as administrators – creating an optimal learning environment for Peabody students.” The…

There's still time to get your child a seat on the school bus this fall, but they are filling up quickly.
Have you paid for your child's school bus pass yet for the coming year? If not, your window of opportunity is closing. School Transportation Director Eileen Bresnahan says she needs to have the bus route schedules for the year over to the transportation company (Salter) by Aug. 13, which leaves just about two weeks for families to sign up and pay in full. School officials are projecting similar enrollment levels as last year at this point. "If they don't have a bus pass, they don't ride the bus," Bresnahan said, citing the standing policy in the district…

My guess is that all of the applicants for these positions are from out of town...The school dept. always seems to do a 'nationwide search' and 'wait for the best candidates', but ironically they seem to hire people that are right under their noses. I'm wondering why so many of these positions were not even posted until a week ago!   more ›
