George Peabody House Museum and the Peabody Leatherworkers Museum

The birthplace of George Peabody, a well-known financier in the 1800s from whom Peabody takes its name, the city-owned museum and Peabody Leatherworkers Museum gives visitors some insight into what life was like for the Peabody family during this period. The site also includes a civic center that provides meeting space for special events and special exhibits. The facility is owned and maintained by the city and is also designated an Essex National Heritage Area.
