Located in the same building as the city's Public Services Department, the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department oversees all of the city's public parks, school athletic fields, Brooksby Farm, the McVann O'Keefe Ice Skating Rink and the Independence Bikeway Trail. The agency, which is headed by director Richard Walker, also offers many recreational programs for adults and children, including Little League and day trips to museums and theaters. Other city-owned facilities the department oversees include The Meadow of Peabody Golf Course.
