Santa Arrives at Northshore Mall and Comedy on Stage This Weekend

There's plenty happening during the upcoming mid-November weekend in Peabody and here on the North Shore. Below you will find the when and where for some of our picks, including a a chance to stock up on inexpensive used books for the winter or see a comedy at the Larcom Theater, but there's a lot of other events going on this weekend in the area.

1. SANTA ARRIVES AT THE NORTHSHORE MALL SATURDAY

Where/When: Northshore Mall, 210 Andover St., Peabody; Saturday, 8-10 a.m.

Why Go: Jolly old Saint Nick arrives at the Northshore Mall for the season Saturday morning. but before his grand arrival, kids can chow down on a special breakfast and holiday arts and crafts session that includes “Make Your Own Minion Food," Make Your Own Despicable Me 2 Ornaments, and "Despicable Me 2" will be streaming throughout the event. Santa will arrive at 9:15 a.m. for a jingle bell parade to The Children's Place. Kids will then have the chance to sit on Santa’s lap for a photo and share their wish lists in the bottom of the Nordstrom wing. 

Where/When: Beverly Public Library, main branch; Nov. 16-24, Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sunday, 1-5 p.m. and Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Why Go: This semiannual sale is always a great opportunity to grab some books at a great price. The selection is always great, especially at the start of the sale, and for the price of one new hardcover at Barnes and Nobles you can completely restock your bookshelf. The sale is open during regular library hours.

Pricing: Paperback and children's books are $1 and hardcover book are $2

3. 'ZOMBIE PROM'

Where/When: Ferrini Dramatics Center at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School; Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m.

Why Go: It is a "high energy, feel-good musical" that will "jump back" to a high school in the "nuclear 1950s" while students "sing and dance their way towards the senior prom."

Pricing: $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors

4. DANVERS COUNCIL ON AGING HOLIDAY FAIR

Where/When: Danvers Senior Center, 25 Stone St., Danvers; Saturday, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Why Go: The Danvers Council on Aging promises there will be something for everyone -- knit goods, baked goods, crafts, jewelry and more.

Pricing: Free

5. 'MY MOTHER'S ITALIAN, MY FATHER'S JEWISH AND I'M IN THERAPY'

Where/When: Larcom Theater, Beverly; Friday, 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, 2 p.m. 

Why Go: This production is less about being Jewish or being Italian and more about the travails of a family dinner. The show is at the historic Larcom Theater through the Sunday before Thanksgiving.

Pricing: $39 for adults and $36 for seniors
