Below you will find the when and where for some of our picks, including a free model ship show in Peabody and a James Taylor tribute concert in Wenham.

1. FREE MODEL SHIP SHOW

Where/When: Torigian Life Center, 79 Central St. Peabody; Saturday, 9 a.m.

Why Go: The show is free and there will be more than 100 model ships of all types on display -- most of them were assembled by seniors who participate in a model shipbuilding class at the Torigian Center. Models are made from wood, paper, plastics and miscellaneous media. The modelers will be there to discuss their work and share stories.  

Where/When: West Beach, Beverly Farms; Saturday, 9:15 a.m., (registration starts at 8 a.m.)

Why Go: It's a new fall tradition to honor Domestic Violence Awareness Month - a 4-mile run that starts and finishes at West Beach. The proceeds from the run go toward helping more than 500 domestic violence victims

Pricing: $25

3. JAMES TAYLOR TRIBUTE BENEFIT CONCERT

Where/When: First Church in Wenham; Sunday, 3 p.m.

Why Go: Peter Stewart and other well-known local voices will take to the stage to perform some of JAmes Taylor's favorite songs. The proceeds from the concert will benefit Family Promise North Shore Boston, a nonprofit interfaith coalition that helps local homeless families get back on their feet.

Pricing: $5 per person

4. CHECK OUT THE NEW REGIONAL VOKE SCHOOL

Where/When: 562 Maple St., Danvers; Saturday, 9 a.m. - noon

Why Go: The new regional vocational high school in Danvers is nearing completion and prospective students and their families will be able to check it out up close this weekend. An open house is scheduled for Oct. 19 at the Maple Street campus, which is currently home to Essex Aggie. The new school is called the Essex North Shore Agricultural and Technical High School.

5. 6TH ANNUAL HEART OF THE HOME KITCHEN TOUR

Where/When: Starts and finishes at Wenham Museum, tour includes kitchens in Beverly, Hamilton, Manchester By-the-Sea and Wenham; Saturday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

Why Go: This tour offers a glimpse at some of the most exquisite kitchen in the greater Beverly area, including the Eagle Rock estate in Prides Crossing and the carriage house of the Steadman Estate.

Pricing: $18 for Wenham Museum members and $23 for non-members on or before Thursday; $25 for all on Friday and Saturday.
