1. SINGER SONGWRITER SERIES WITH MARK CUTLER

Where/When: Glen Urquhart School, Beverly Farms; Saturday, 7 p.m. 

Why Go: Mark Cutler is a singer-songwriter from Providence who has been the lead singer and songwriter for The Schemers, The Raindogs and The Dino Club. He comes to Glen Urquhart in a show open to the public as part of series put together by Head of School Dave Provost, who is an accomplished musician who has been playing professionally since a young age. Providence Journal writer Bob Kerr said he first saw Cutler as a member of The Schemers that was "a rock 'n' roll journey that started early and just keeps on keepin' on."

Pricing: $10 per person at the door

2. SCOTT LIBBY FIRESIDE CONCERT: 'ANNALIVIA'

Where/When: Community House of Hamilton-Wenham, Hamilton; Saturday, 7:30 p.m.

Why Go: Annalivia is described as an American "roots and branches" string-band that draws from tradition and today and deliver their "own brand of new acoustic folk music." Their appearance is part of the 2014 Scott Libby Fireside Series.

Pricing: $15 in advance and $18 at the door

3. DOCTOR, CANCER SURVIVOR ELLEN BLOMERTH SHARES HER STORY

Where/When: Peabody Institute Library of Danvers, 15 Sylvan St., Danvers; Saturday, 11 a.m.

Why Go: Dr. Ellen Blomerth of Danvers will share her story as a breast cancer survivor Saturday at the library. Blomerth will also discuss her book about surviving a year of cancer treatments by blending medical and natural therapies. She practices as a chiropractor in Peabody.

4. OPEN HOUSE AT ST. JOHN'S SCHOOL

Where/When: St. John the Baptist School, 19 School St., Peabody; Sunday, 11:30 a.m.

Why Go: St. John's is now enrolling preschool students through grade eight for the 2014-2015 school year. Check out the school at the upcoming open house.

5. COMEDIAN LENNY CLARKE

Where/When: Larcom Theater, Beverly; Saturday, 8 p.m.

Why Go: Comedian Lenny Clarke is a household name in the greater Boston area. He's been performing since the 1980s as part of the local comedy scene that includes Denis Leary and Steven Wright. He has also appeared in many film and television roles, including playing Uncle Teddy in the FX series "Rescue Me."
