Monday Essentials: Back to School Activities This Week; Bartholomew St Under Construction

Here's what you need to know this week in Peabody.

Today is Monday, Aug. 26. Here's a look at the week ahead in Peabody.

  1. Freshman and all new students at Peabody High get their orientation Monday from 9-11 a.m. Also tryouts for the Peabody High golf team are scheduled for 2 p.m. over at The Meadow.
  2. Bartholomew Street will be under construction this week for installation of a new water line. Work is scheduled Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. Peabody police say motorists should expect traffic delays and seek alternate routes.
  3. New Center School Principal Jacqueline Orphanos is hosting a meet and greet for parents Monday from 5-6 p.m. at the school.
  4. The Higgins Back to School Extravaganza is this Wednesday, 3-5 p.m. Cluster assignments will be posted, there will be ice cream from Treadwell's and various other tables, including the Higgins PTO and Healthy Peabody Collaborative. The program is sponsored by the Peabody Education Foundation.
  5. There's a paint party happening at Bertucci's on Wednesday (7 p.m.) with Creative Canvas LLC. The price includes a reserved seat and all painting materials.
  6. Get your advance tickets to see "Las Cage aux Folles" starring Charles Shaughnessy at the North Shore Music Theatre this week until Aug. 31. North Shore Community Action Programs is partnering with the theater for a special production to benefit NSCAP's homelessness prevention services for local residents. The performance is Sept. 27 and there will be a pre-show reception at 6 p.m. with a light dinner, cash bar, raffle prizes and an auction. Early bird are $60.
