Housing Nonprofit Dedicates Two New Homes Sunday

Two new homes in Downtown Peabody will be dedicated by Habitat for Humanity-North Shore on Sunday afternoon to two families.

The North Shore contingent of Habitat for Humanity plans to dedicate two newly renovated homes in a downtown neighborhood this Sunday.

The two condominiums were part of an that involved rehabbing two, dilapidated, foreclosed properties and tearing down a third building to make way for eight units in total. The project is now at the halfway point -- two units at 5 Park St. were .

City and community leaders, volunteers, families and friends will join Habitat on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. for the dedication to two local families just in time for the holidays.

A press release from Habitat, which is based in Lynn, said the Park Street project is the most ambitious development the non-profit group has undertaken in its 25 year history, transforming the three properties into eight safe, affordable and energy efficient homes.

Sunday's ceremony will be held at 12 Park St.
