Rec and Roll in Peabody This Summer

Peabody's new drop in recreation program for children of all ages began this past week on July 8. The free program provides six different parks from Monday to Saturday that sponsor recreation programs for kids.

Through this program, parents are able to pick and choose which days they would like their children to attend a program without any advance notice.

The seven-week program takes place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at various parks throughout Peabody.

“Rec & Roll is designed to bring the benefits of summer park play to children and families who might otherwise miss out,” said Mayor Ted Bettencourt.  “Peabody has a great tradition of promoting supervised summer fun for children of all ages.  This innovative program continues that tradition and broadens its reach.”

The program was funded from a grant through the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care.

The Rec and Roll program features games, arts & crafts, and free books for all kids. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Release forms required to be filled out are available on the recreation department website at www.peabody-ma.gov/parks_rec.html.
