MAP: West Peabody Will Be Sprayed for Mosquitoes on Wednesday

The insecticide spraying is in response to a report of West Nile Virus in a mosquito pool in nearby Lynnfield.

If you live in West Peabody, you'll want to shut your windows and take fans out of them on Wednesday night.

That's because the city will be spraying to kill mosquitoes. The city decided to use insecticide after reports of mosquito pools testing positive for West Nile Virus in Lynnfield near the Peabody border.

Spraying will be done by truck starting at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Weather conditions could force postponement.

Here's the city's list of neighborhoods and parks to be sprayed. There is also a map attached to this story:

  • Neighborhoods bounded by Winona, Lake, and Lowell streets to the Lynnfield line
  • Kennedy fields, Corbeil Park, Ross Park, Symphony Park and the Peabody Independence Greenway bike path

While the city says residents don't need to take special precautions, they do say you might choose to close your windows, take out any window fans and shut down your AC when the truck is on your street.
